Akki roti / Rice roti is a unique breakfast of Karnataka. It is called as Tandlachi Bhakri in Maharashtra. It is popular in Kerala and called as Pathiri or Ari pathiri. Kashmiri Dum Aloo is a very famous Kashmiri recipe made using baby potatoes simmered in a yogurt based gravy flavored with dry ginger powder and fennel.The beautiful colour and aroma of this aloo recipe is enough to make you really hungry. Deep-fried baby potatoes cooked in a masala made with ingredients like Kashmiri red chilli paste, cardamom powder, fennel seed powder and creamy yogurt here I made fusion of akki roti or tandlachi bhakri and kashmiri dum aloo with a hint of Maharashtra harvi mirchi thecha

Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Akki dum aloo roll:
- For akki roti
- 1 cup Rice flour
- 1 cup Water
- to taste Salt
- For dum aloo
- 4-5 Potatoes peeled small
- as needed Oil for frying
- 5-6 Kashmiri red chillies
- 2 cup Yogurt
- 2 tsp Fennel seed powder
- 1/4 cup Mustard oil
- 1 pinch Clove powder
- 1 pinch asafoetida
- to taste Salt
- 1/2 tsp Roasted cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
Instructions to make to make Akki dum aloo roll
- Dum aloo
Prick the potatoes all over with the help of a fork. Keep in salted water for fifteen minutes.
Drain and wipe dry.
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep-fry the potatoes on medium heat till golden brown.
Drain on absorbent paper and set aside. Whisk the yogurt with Kashmiri red chilli paste, green cardamom powder, dry ginger powder and fennel powder. Heat the mustard oil in a pan.


- Add the clove powder and asafoetida. Add half a cup of water and salt to taste and bring the mixture to a boil.
Stir in the yogurt mixture and bring the mixtuer to a boil.
Add the fried potatoes and cook till the potatoes absorb the gravy and the oil surfaces. Serve hot, garnished with roasted cumin powder and garam masala powder.

- To prepare ukkarisida akki rotti or plain rice flour roti, first take water, salt and oil in a pan and keep it for boiling. If you are not sure about rice flour quality, use 1 cup of water and 1 cup of rice flour. Then while kneading the dough you can add the water if required.
Next when the water starts boiling add in rice flour, give a quick mix and switch off the stove.
After switching off the stove, mix it well using a flat spatula, close the lid and keep it aside.


- Once the dough is warm, knead it very well. Squeeze, punch, fold and knead it for five minutes. Better you knead, easy to make rotis.
Once you are done with the kneading, dust your fingers, pinch and take big lemon sized dough. Again knead the dough using palms and make a soft flat ball.
Dust the flour and roll the flat balls into thin rotis. Please note you have to be gentle while making this roti.
Heat the tava or pan and transfer the rolled rotti or roti over the hot pan.


- Apply water on the roti using a clean and wet cloth. Please note, you need to be gentle and quick.
Once you start seeing the small bubbles, flip the roti and cook on the other side.
Alternately, you can cook the roti directly over the flame. To do that, first cook the rotis over the pan for small duration and then transfer it directly over the flame, cook on both sides. Serve it with any curry of your choice.
- Now making roll.........spread butter on roti then thecha, add any salad of your choice I use simple chopped onions, capsicum, kakadi, cabbage, mint leaves and dhniya leaves then add mashed potatoes of dum aloo then roll and enjoy. The taste of thecha and kashmiri flavoured aloo is đ
